GOANNA FALLS RESERVE

Public BBQ

Goanna Falls Reserve offers a curious slice of Australian bush tranquillity, complete with the persistent hum of the Hume Highway overhead. This modest reserve near Berrima features a small waterfall reached via swampy ground peppered with animal burrows, watch your step. What remains tells a story of faded ambitions: concrete slabs mark where barbecues and picnic tables once welcomed families, now reduced to mysterious monuments on grass. The facilities situation is refreshingly honest,no toilets, no bins, strictly BYO everything. The creek trickles toward its small cascade while rusty barbed wire suggests this isn't ideal for unsupervised children. Yet there's something endearing about a place that doesn't oversell itself. Perfect for a thermos of tea from Berrima, where you can listen to the water babble while trucks rumble overhead,a quintessentially Australian compromise between nature and progress.
